That is’nt very nice Francesca. I have’nt really been around much because I have been away on my holidays all over the place.

CLASS 5 GET FIT AND HEALTHY

This week is health week. We have been doing hoola hooping, Freddy fit, smoothie making, planting peas, parachuting, cheer leading, cycling proficiency, fruit tasting and loads loads more.

This is our perfect smoothie: 1 pineapple, 1 mango, 1 orange, 1 apricot, vanilla yoghurt and ice. We had an Apprentice style challenge and this was the winning recipe called Fruitillicious Mr Mills and Mrs Leathley competed with their creations and we fired Mrs Leathley!

We tried lots of new fruits including: guava, star fruit, dragon fruit, avocado, passion fruit, mango, Chinese pear, Sharon fruit and tamarinds. Some of were brave and tried everything – others less so!

We have been designing superheros/heroins and villains. We have also wrote thankyou letters to the Robinwood staff as we went last week. This afternoon we have been doing triple jumps with Mr Mills and throwing with Miss Canning. So we have had a fun day.

We have all just about recovered from Robin Wood, it has been hard work because we are all still very tired.

We have got some new people in class 5. They are all the year 5s from Class 4 and are settling in well.

We are rehearsing for our summer play ‘Hastings holiday camp’, they are going OK so far. If anyone has any tips on learning words please let us know.

In maths we are doing coordinates and did some work on the Fibonacci sequence. We have been diary writing from Robin Wood as well as writing thank you letters to the staff.

Welcome back from Robin Wood

We are back from Robin Wood. We have had a great few days away and we all pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones and achieved things we did not think we could do. Highlights of the week included; canoeing, climbing, caving, archery and a stream walk where everybody got very wet.

We have been following up our trip with diary writing about our time at Robin Wood as well as interviewing each other for newspaper reports.

In maths this week we will be doing lots of investigation work and looking at the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio! WOW!

Please don’t forget your homework for this week, which is to finish your diaries from Robin Wood, due on Friday please.

Class 5 hit the headlines!

Today in Class 5 we have been making our own news broadcasts about our visit to the Countryside Live event yesterday.

We used Microsoft photostory to make a slideshow of pictures which would then go with our own news reports. We them filmed them and watched them back on the smartboard and assessed our speaking and listening skills (which were very good)!

Mrs Hilton said: “It was an enjoyable day at Countryside Live but perhaps the older children had seen it all before”. Liam said ” It was really good”!

We will put up some photos of Countryside Live soon.

You can edit your picture using Tinting, Turning ,colour change & Brightness
Then we put our pictures onto Microsoft word

Hooray! SATs are over

Well done to all the Year 6 in Class 5 for working so hard this week on your SATs, I’m sure you will all do brilliantly. Also thank you to the the Year 5 who have also been very supportive in the run up to SATs.

It hasn’t just been all tests tests tests though, we have started our topic work titled, Lights Camera Action, all about the film industry. We have stared by making artwork on the computers in the style of Andy Warhol. Soon we will be able to publish it in our blog as well, so watch this space.

Just a reminder of your homework for this weekend to read a newspaper article and bring it in ready to talk about it.

Hello from Class 5

Hello, we are a year 5 and 6 class in a small rural school called Lady Elizabeth Hastings C of E in Ledston. This is our very first post. We thought we might use it to tell you what we’ve been doing recently. There are 14 people in our class, and our teacher is Mrs Hilton. We have 9 Year 6′s and 5 Year 5′s. Recently we have been preparing for our SAT’s. Not long ago, we went to York Minster. In February some of the people in our class and the class below got confirmed by the Bishop of Selby. We are looking forward to go to Robin Wood which is an Outward Bound center. We get along really well, and would appreciate any comments you would like to leave.
